The Price Board
Priced per pound & per kilo · cut to order, no charge
Everything on this board was walking about within twenty miles of the square. We know the farm, the field and usually the farmer’s dog.
Prices hold for the week and change on a Tuesday when the beef comes down off the hooks. Ask for it thick or thin, boned, rolled or left on the bone. Ted does the block Tuesday to Saturday and he doesn’t mind being asked.

Ordering Call the shop for anything large: a rib, a whole leg, a box for the freezer. Two days’ notice and it will be ready with your name on it. We take cash and card. No delivery and no website orders. You come to the square.
Why the shop smells of nothing much
Hung 28 Days
Beef goes up on the hooks in the cold room the day it comes in, and it stays there four weeks. It loses about a fifth of its weight doing nothing at all, which is why it costs what it costs. What you get back is a piece of meat that tastes of something and doesn’t sit in a puddle in the pan.
We buy whole animals, so we sell the whole animal. That means we will always have shin and cheek and belly as well as sirloin, and we will always tell you the cheap cut is the better dinner if it is.
